It has been learnt that the handgun that had been discovered on Wednesday, not far from where Jennifer Hudson’s nephew’s body was found is indeed the weapon used in the gruesome killings.

Police interest had been aroused immediately as the unfired bullets in the gun tallied with the make and model of the shell casings which were seen at the murder scene.

Sources also reveal that forensics tests are in conformation with the police hunch and that the gun has been traced to the gun’s original owner in Michigan. The gun had been reported to be stolen earlier by the owner.

Hudson’s nephew Julian King was found shot dead in the back of an SUV earlier this week.

The mother and brother of Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson were gunned down in a home on the South Side of Chicago on Friday. Police confirm that they are investigating the deaths of Darnell Donerson, Hudson’s 57-year-old mother, and Jason Hudson, her 29-year-old brother.

Authorities are also searching for a 7-year-old boy, believed to be Hudson’s nephew, who is missing from the scene.

Police said that the bodies were discovered at about 3 p.m. on Friday, when a relative found Donerson shot to death on the living room floor of her home. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the brother’s dead body in a bedroom.

Hudson is said to be on her way to Chicago and her representative has yet to make a statement.

Lee Grivas was 26. His neighbor found him on Tuesday morning, lying dead in his living room. Lt. Fred Corral of the L.A. Coroner’s office released a statement saying that “Grivas did have a history of drug abuse, and our investigator found a syringe at the scene.” He did however caution that they are still awaiting results of the toxicology report.
