The race for 1 million followers on Twitter is on. In one corner is CNN; in the other, Ashton Kutcher.

Just a few weeks ago, no one was close to reaching that benchmark. Now, as users have flocked to the increasingly popular microblogging site, the numbers have grown.

CNN’s breaking news feed (http://www.twitter.com/cnnbrk) is in the lead with more than 937,000 followers as of noon Wednesday. Britney Spears is second, with more than 903,000 followers, while Kutcher (http://www.twitter.com/aplusk) has seen his follower count grow to more than 888,000.

The 31-year-old actor recently threw down the gauntlet, challenging CNN and its founder, Ted Turner. In a Web video posted earlier this week, Kutcher said he would ding-dong-ditch Turner’s house if he beat CNN to 1 million.

“I find it astonishing that one person can actually have as big of a voice online as what an entire media company can on Twitter,” Kutcher said in a video he posted on qik.com. “I just thought that was kind of an amazing comment on the state of our media.”

Looks like Becks needs to learn to keep his frustration at the paparazzi in check.

After being pursued by photogs today in Beverly Hills, the soccer star confronted a photog, and a fight broke out moments later between one of the soccer star’s bodyguards and the shutterbug.

According to an eyewitness, Beckham went up to the car and tried to get the driver to come out. When the driver declined, Beckham’s bodyguard went to the passenger’s side and punches began flying.

The scuffle did not go unnoticed by the authorities. “They started fighting right in the street in front of the police station,” the eyewitness said.

“Once the bodyguards and the paparazzi started fighting, David ran back to the car and he and Victoria drove off…The cops finally came and broke it up.”

No one was taken in custody, but a full investigation into the matter has been called for.

It is becoming extremely difficult for the paparazzi to love Courtney Love nowadays. Caught here on camera as she hitches a ride in a Malibu shopping cart, Love seems to have gone a little too far in her insane quest for frailty. An exercise as simple as walking stretches her to the hilt.

Even though Love appears to have reached the end of her tether, she nonetheless flips off the photographer. Don’t upset the apple-cart, Courtney!

Well, if you see McConaughey out on the beaches, you might not want to take any pictures of him, because the surfers there have his back! Literally, these dudes will brawl with you when you want to take photos.

E! Online is reporting that a photographer told them a mob of surfers surrounded photogs there and demanded they stop filming and taking photos. When they paparazzi didn’t stop, they got their asses whooped.

God I love California! Where else would this type of shit happen?

Anyway, I guess there were some injuries and now another photographer is coming forward claiming to have suffered a broken nose.

The brawl was caught on tape by TMZ and X17online. McConaughey doesn’t appear to have been involved.
