Eva Longoria Parker is set to return as host and gala chair for the 9th annual PADRES’ Contra El Cáncer fundraising gala.
The “Desperate Housewives” actress, who also serves as the national spokesperson for PADRES, will return Thursday September 10 at the Hollywood Palladium, along with master of ceremonies George Lopez.
Honorees include celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves, cosmetic company L’Oreal Paris, and the California Correctional Peace Officers Association for their efforts to improve the quality of lives of children and families battling cancer.

Angelina Jolie has returned to Iraq for her third trip as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), and she discusses the “progress” she has seen.
The actress’ day-long visit to Baghdad included a visit to a makeshift settlement, where Jolie met with four families, the UNHCR says.
“This is a moment where things seem to be improving on the ground, but Iraqis need a lot of support and help to rebuild their lives,” Jolie tells the UN agency of the nation’s conditions.
“The picture in this camp is a rough one but there are also some people that were able to return home to other safer areas,” Jolie said, according to the UNHCR Web site. “There are some changes. There are returns of displaced people, not a big number but there is progress.”
Jolie sure will win brownie points in most hearts for this initiative.

David Arquette is going to live in a box. For two days. For charity.
The actor is going to stay in a Plexiglas (I think that means plastic?) box above the Madison Square Garden marquee for two days next week. However, he won’t be in there all day. He’ll be inside for about eight hours each day. His stay will earn $250,000 for the charity Feeding America.
Donations will be given at Madison Square Garden or online or through text messages. If anyone’s in New York next Tuesday and Wednesday, make sure to stop by and wave hello.
Good for David Arquette. We always need actors doing crazy stuff for charity. If David Blaine had raised money every time he has sat on ice or submerged himself in water we might have rid the world of world hunger by now.

Brangelina has got to be the most humanitarian couple in all of celebdom!
Angelina, who is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), and her partner Brad have donated the money through their foundation to help displaced people living in Pakistan.
UN Refugee Agency head António Guterres thanked the Jolie-Pitt foundation for the donation, People reports. Guterres said the situation in Pakistan, where 2 million people are displaced, is “the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade.”

Brad Pitt, along with his relatives, have generously donated $1 million to a new pediatric cancer center in the actor’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri.
The center, St. John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, is named after Pitt’s mother and will open this summer on the fifth floor of St. John’s Children’s Hospital.
Brad’s brother and sister-in-law Doug and Lisa Pitt, along with his sister and brother-in-law Julie and Rob Neal, also contributed to the endowment that will fund the region’s first pediatric oncologist/hematologist that will work at the cancer center.
