It’s not secret that the controversial rapper, Eminem, doesn’t hold back when it comes to choice words for certain people such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or Mariah Carey. However, when asked about Taylor Swift, Mr. Marshall Mathers comes to pop country singer’s defense.
In regards to the incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Kanye West infamously made a fool of himself interrupting the 20-year-old’s acceptance speech, Em says, “He shouldn’t have done that, man. I mean, she’s a little girl,” the rapper told Spin. Kanye West expressed his opinion that Beyonce should have won the Best Female Video award instead of Swift.
Eminem understands that was detrimental to West’s career and that he was tempted to make a similar mistake. On his latest album, Recovery, Eminem admitted out of jealousy, he nearly included a track dissing the careers of West and Lil Wayne, but he said, “It would have been career suicide.”
Now that his daughter, Hayley, is 14-years-old, Mathers explains that he has become more sensitive over time and as a result avoids pop culture and the internet these days. “Here’s why I don’t know how to work a computer: If I learn how, I’m going to be on the s*** all day looking at comments about me … and it’s going to drive me crazy.”
Apparently, Eminem has been facing his own demons since he’s been in the hip-hop industry and has been making a “recovery” of his own over the years. Eminem was performing at the launch of the E3 video game convention where he was interviewed and opened up about his latest album Recovery set to hit shelves next Monday.
The album was inspired by his own recovery and the Detroit based rapper explained, “Recovery feels better than ever. Feels like I’m me again.” Over the years, Em finally faced his drug addiction admitting, “It took me a while to admit I actually did have a problem. In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak,” Em explains, “But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.”
Asked how close he was to dying, Eminem said he “was certainly a couple hours away from death,” then admitting he actually “overdosed and almost died.” Who knew Marshall Mathers went back to rehab?
Eminem even opened up about pulling back from the brink and re-entering rehab, “I had to admit I had a problem. I had to do it for myself,” and Eminem added he went in more committed and more honest with himself.
When asked how people exposed in the industry could avoid the snags, he answered, “That a tough question. I don’t know how you avoid it. I mean, I could say the clichéd things, make sure you stay on the right path, you make the right decisions in life.” But the rapper admits that isn’t a very easy thing to do, saying “You know, fame is a funny thing… you go to bars, you go to clubs, everyone’s doing a certain thing… It’s tough.”
Well hopefully, Em stays on top of his battles and can continue to conquer in the industry on a healthier note. His highly anticipated album Recovery will be released on June 21.

Sacha Cohen will not be charged with aggravated assault for his “accidental” teabagging of Eminem at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards - it was all staged and rehearsed.
Comedy writer Scott Auckerman of Mr. Show with Bob and David fame has come clean so that the rest of humanity can now go about the rest of their lives.
He writes on his blog:
“Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk about, so let’s get it out of the way. They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then. Okay, you can stop reading this blog now!”
Well, if that’s not a big enough surprise, sources suggest that the original offer was made to Paris Hilton instead of Eminem. Hmm, that would have been interesting!
