Former child star Mackenzie Phillips is defending her father, 60s musician John Phillips, with whom she claims she had a decade-long sexual relationship.

“My father was not a bad man,” she said on the Today show Thursday. “He was a very sick man. And if anyone out there can possibly separate his body of work from his personal demons, I think that would be the honorable thing to do.”

Mackenzie, 49, added that her father — with whom she says she also did drugs — “didn’t set out to hurt me. He did the best with what he had. He was a damaged guy.”

She also clarified reports that their relationship — which she details in her new book, High on Arrival — lasted 10 years.
“At 18, I was molested. Then maybe three years later, I started waking up later with my pants down around my ankles,” she said. “And then maybe two years after that, it became consensual.”

“So to call it a 10-year relationship is not correct,” she added. “This was a warped event that occurred over time.”

Despite the criticism, Mackenzie said on the Today show, “the outpouring of support from other incest survivors has been phenomenal.”"This is a subject that is so incredibly taboo, as it should be, but there needs to be a dialogue about it,” she continued. “The covers need to be pulled.”

Actress Nicole Kidman recently revealed that her husband, Keith Urban, had an alcohol problem just three months after their wedding.

“[Keith and I] were thrown into his alcohol problem three months into the marriage, and that was big,” she said. “We became the closest we could become, because we had to bare our souls. We did 10 years of marriage in three months.”

She added,”You go to hell and back with this - when the addiction takes control of life, it’s terrifying. But there is hope, and we work on it every day, and we are in a place of actual peace right now, which is a beautiful place.”

Nicole also put in her feelings for her hubby, the country singer, “I love him so deeply, and he has done an amazing amount of work, and he is an amazing husband, and I am just very, very grateful. I think we are both in a place of humility.”

George Michael has been cautioned after being arrested in a public toilet for possession of drugs, thought to include crack cocaine.

.A 45-year-old man was arrested on 19 September on suspicion of possession of drugs in the Hampstead Heath area,. a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The singer was taken to a police station and given the caution for possessing class A and class C drugs. this follows an incident in 1998, when Michael was arrested in a Beverly Hills bathroom for soliciting sex to an undercover police officer.

Tragedy has struck in the life of Christina Applegate, as her boyfriend was found dead in his apartment, probably the victim of a drug overdose.

Lee Grivas was 26. His neighbor found him on Tuesday morning, lying dead in his living room. Lt. Fred Corral of the L.A. Coroner’s office released a statement saying that “Grivas did have a history of drug abuse, and our investigator found a syringe at the scene.” He did however caution that they are still awaiting results of the toxicology report.
