Just two weeks after the American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino, was hospitalized for an overdose of aspirin and sleep aid, the singer explains it wasn’t an accident. She wanted it to be over.
Barrino told VH1 in a new Behind the Music interview, “I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out.” The interview will air Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the same day as the release of her latest album Back to Me. Fantasia explains, “At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with — all of it, all of that ****.”
The troubled mom admitted, “I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.”
Fantasia was found lying on the floor in her room by her manager, Brian Dickens. Upon his arrival, Dickens says, “Her emotions were extremely low. She’d been crying all day. Fantasia was just numb,” adding, “Fantasia texted me, saying ‘I love you.’ I wrote back, ‘I love you more.’ Then it hit me.”
Dickens replied to Barrino, “I wrote, ‘You better not do anything or think about doing anything stupid.’ And I left it at that. About ten minutes later, Fantasia texted me back, and she said, ‘Already did.’ I went to Fantasia’s room and saw her on the floor, and my heart just dropped.”
What could have possibly made this singing talent want to end her life? “I was tired of people doing me wrong, constantly, over and over again, dealing with my family — my father, dealing with men and their **** … I was tired,” Barrino says. “My head was hurting me. I was over it.”
In the past year, her personal life may have not hit the lottery, but Sandra Bullock’s income was the winning ticket. In Forbes recent ranking of the highest-paid actress, Sandra Bullock crushed her competition earning a reported $56 million between June 2009 and June 2010.
Bullock even took a pay cut to play the Oscar winning role in The Blind Side, however her share generously paid off after the film earned $310 million in box office sales … a very profitable return for a $30 million budget project.
The top earning actress nearly doubled the income of the following two on the list, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz both earning $32 million. Although the road has been rocky for Bullock for a few months, it has been the most successful year of Bullock’s entire career. And it’s not even just the money, because she won an Oscar for her leading role which is the most prestigious honor for an actress. But the money can’t hurt, and her new adopted boy, Louie, is certainly one lucky little baby.
The R & B superstar, Alicia Keys, has married her boyfriend Swizz Beatz, a rep confirmed to CNN on Sunday. According to Keys’ representatives, the couple tied the knot in an intimate private ceremony in a beautiful setting overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The 29-year-old Keys, is a 12-time Grammy Award winner, and wore a Grecian style, asymmetrical Vera Wang gown. Keys’ groom, a music producer, donned a Tom Ford designed tuxedo with a white jackey and pale pink shirt.
The pair have been friends for years and worked together on a song for Keys’ latest album, “The Element of Freedom.” When they began dating, they maintained a relatively low-key romance, until the happy newlyweds announced they were expecting their first child together.
So much has changed since the former “winner” of The Bachelor, Melissa Rycroft, was publicly exchanged by Jason Mesnick for the runner-up, Molly Malaney. It has been a year of bliss ever since she found and married her true love, Tye Strickland.
Now Rycroft and the insurance agent are expecting their first child together. Melissa told US Weekly, “It was a shock. We weren’t even trying,” and she added, “He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No not ready!’” Well, it looks like they are ready after all.
With baby number one on the way due in February, the newlyweds couldn’t be more thrilled. “He’s actually cried more than I have,” Rycroft says of her husband, “Tye is caring, he’s funny. He’s going to be a great dad.”
Mrs. Rycroft- Strickland has admitted she is already experiencing cravings and eating for two, and apparently isn’t worried about losing her athletic figure. “Knowing me, I’m going to swell and gain 90 pounds,” Melissa says, “But it’s not about me anymore!” Now it’s Rycroft Strickland and baby and she says, “It’s the most wonderful surprise in the world … It’s such a blessing.”
Melissa is also continuing with her career in television and has become a bit of an ABC celebrity. She will be co-hosting the new reality series in August, Bachelor Pad.
And she cares because? The outspoken hip-hop diva, M.I.A., will rap or speak her mind whether in her music or an interview, she can be pretty raw. Anyway, in her latest interview with Time Out London, the British native has words for both talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey, and Lady Gaga.
In the interview, M.I.A. claims that Oprah, wasn’t exactly the warm and fuzzy TV persona she was expecting, when the two met at the Metropolitan Ball at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in May. M.I.A. explained, “She was with Iman Bowie. Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me, but Oprah seemed really ****** off with me.”
It got better when Oprah, who co-chaired the event, took the stage and began to gush over Lady Gaga, who grew up in a privileged family. “She made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she is helping Americans to be the best of themselves,” M.I.A. explained, “There’s millions of other Americans who represent that for me. Is it about numbers? About how much you’re selling? Is it truly about the journey,” she asked. “Because Lady Gaga’s journey isn’t that difficult to go from the ******* Upper East Side to a ******* performing arts school and on to a stage at the museum of ******* whatever. That journey’s about four miles.” Haha. M.I.A. definitely has a point and I think I love her.
